Why to choose RHINO for the calving season/ advantages
Each year thousands of Wildebeest give birth to their young in one of nature biggest events the Ngorongoro, Ndutu Serengeti Wildebeest Calving season. This six -week safari is without doubt an experience that you as a wildlife-photographer should not miss! Considered one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on earth, the migration includes millions of animals as the wildebeest are accompanied on their trek by hundreds of thousands of zebra, gazelle and predators.
Our safari is aimed at the calving season when the massive herds of wildebeest arrive in the Southern most point of their migration over February and March. This is without a doubt one of the best times for you to witness this extraordinary spectacle when the herds find themselves on the vast open plains of the southern Serengeti and Ndutu plains. Here over 8 000 calves are born per day - yet less than half will live to see their five month-birthday. Roaming prides of lion follow the herds; large clans of hyena and of course resident cheetah make for non stop-action. For these reasons Serengeti and Ndutu is a favorite with wildlife enthusiasts, photographers and filmmakers.

The Day starts with early morning game drive; based on the luck day this is the good time to see the hunting Lion. The most social of the big cats, lions live in groups called prides, comprised mostly of females and cubs and only 1-2 adult males. Typically prides have 6-12 lions, but can sometimes have more than 30 members. Superior hunters, lionesses inherit the same territories as their mothers while young males roam until they drive out old males from other prides to take over leadership. Your group will enjoy an exclusive night in the Ndutu Camp or Serengeti Wild Camp.

After breakfast, Start the Day spotting the migration Most of us know about the “Great Migration” from nature programs that capture some of the most thrilling moments on film. Often misunderstood, the migration is a perpetual, year round process involving over one million wildebeest and 200,000 zebra who roam the plains quietly, in search of food and water. While some antelope and hyena may follow the herds, other animals remain in their territories or have separate migratory patterns. The migration’s most dramatic moments often occur when large numbers of wildebeest and zebra make river crossings, during which they must elude predators in a desperate fight for survival. There is no telling exactly when these highly dramatic movements will occur, but all safari goers are sure to see plenty of wildebeest and zebra while in Tanzania. Late in the evening enjoy an exclusive night in the Ndutu area of the Serengeti or Ngorongoro Wild Camp.
After breakfast drive to Ngorongoro Crater for a full day game drive inside the crater. This is the best place in Tanzania to see black rhino as well as prides of lion that include the magnificent black-manned males. There are lots of colorful flamingoes and a variety of water birds. Other game that you can see includes leopard, cheetah, hyena, other members of the antelope family, and small mammals. In the late afternoon drive to Highview Hotel or Ngorongoro Wild Camp for Dinner and overnight. FB
