Itineraries

In the morning after breakfast (around 7:30 AM), your safari guide will arrive at the hotel and inform the receptionist that he is waiting for you. After meeting up with your driver, you will travel to Tarangire National Park, and by 10:00 AM, you will already be on your first safari, which takes place in Tarangire.

Travel Briefing

Your travel briefing is essential, especially since today is your first travel inside the park. Pack long sleeves for the night because it can sometimes be chilly even during the game drive. We are traveling inside the bushes, with different species, including flies and tse-tse flies; repellant is also recommended.

Breakfast will be at your hotel in Arusha. We will take our lunch, embark on a game drive, and spend the night there with breakfast provided by your stay in Tarangire. Drinking water will be included during the travel and while in your stay after the safari.

Road Trip: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

From Arusha, you have a 120 km road trip westwards from Arusha city center. Along the tarmac road, while in your comfortable 4x4 land cruiser with a pop-up roof and guaranteed window seats for everyone, you will perhaps enjoy seeing traditionalist Maasai boys painted black and white on their faces, driving their family flocks of goats to new pastures or just wandering, awaiting traditional activities of their own.

Walking Safari in Tarangire National Park

Today you will have an hour walking safari in search of wildlife with an armed ranger escort, which is one of the special experiences this travel can offer. Very lucky you chose this program.

Game Drive in Tarangire National Park

In Tarangire National Park, you have the chance to see lots of wild African animals (lions, buffalos, giraffes, zebras, and more), but above all else, it is famous for its astonishing number of elephants, who typically tend to stay close to their drinking source in this park.

Perhaps enjoy a pleasant game watching along the Tarangire River, the drinking source for elephants, buffalos, gazelles, and even predators who also try their best on prey. Your expert guide may opt to visit Lamarkau and Silale swamps depending on timing and its diversity in your travel season.

Tarangire National Park has an amazing ecosystem dotted with giant baobab trees. Animals such as buffalo and kudu suck water from the baobab skin while other small species make their habitats in the hollow of these ancient baobabs.

You should be aware that this is wild nature, so the guide cannot make any guarantees on the presence of specific wild animals on a typical day, but you can be sure he will do his best to find everything you're looking for! Our guides have a radio channel that the drivers use to communicate with other guides and collaborate on searches for rare species.

At lunch time, you will be provided a meal, after which the safari will continue. In the evening, you will be transferred to the hotel near Lake Eyasi.

Enjoy your pleasant travel in Tarangire.

You will participate in some activities with Bushmen, put on your simple clothes and simple shoes. Enjoy your early breakfast and drive to the bushmen of Lake Eyasi, Hadzabe and Dagota (blacksmith) where you can watch their daily life and participate in real hunt with them.

In the afternoon you will have a break and driver will give you lunch-boxes or drive to back to the hotel. After this stop the safari will continue, and by evening you will be transferred to a hotel located on the edge of the Ngorongoro volcanic crater.

Lake Eyasi and its Bushmen

Lake Eyasi is located in the Great Rift Valley, southwest of the Ngorongoro Crater. Its salt-water levels experience dramatic changes with the seasons: in years with little rainfall, the lake can almost disappear.

We will first experience a hunting trip with the Hadzabe, the last hunter-gatherers in Tanzania, before receiving a welcome from a different tribe, the colorful Datoga people. You will also see a local blacksmith practicing his craft, fashioning pots and weapons from scrap metal.

After an action-packed morning, we will drive to Ngorongoro, where we will enjoy our lunch and spend the night.

Road Trip: Lake Eyasi to Ngorongoro (Evening)

After Bushmen cultural excursions in Lake Eyasi we have 135km, 2 hours road trip travel to your stay in Ngorongoro this evening.

Meal Plan

Breakfast and lunch (or lunch box to take as picnic in Lake Eyasi) is enjoyed at your stay near Lake Eyasi. Your dinner will be a delicious meal at your accommodation in Ngorongoro.

On this day, it is best to leave the hotel as early as possible so you can see the variety of animals that are only active during the morning hours; breakfast will be packed in lunch-boxes specifically for this purpose. At 6:30 AM, you will set off for Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and after about an hour, you will already be inside the crater.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Ngorongoro is one of the most famous and interesting of Tanzania's national parks because here you can find the greatest number of different animal species per square kilometer. You will have the chance to see buffalo, elephants, lions, wildebeests, zebras, hippopotamus, and feline species such as caracals and servals. The luckiest travelers might even see a rhinoceros, an animal whose numbers are rapidly declining.

Lunch by the Lake

By lunchtime, you will arrive at the lakeside, where you will be offered lunch boxes, after which the safari will continue.

Meal Plan

Breakfast and lunch (or lunch box to take for a picnic in Lake Eyasi) will be provided by your stay in Ngorongoro Crater. Your dinner will be a delicious meal at your accommodation in Arusha.

Masai Boma and Cultural Handcrafts

We provide a free visit to the Maasai boma and to handcrafts and souvenirs shopping after the safari. In the evening, you will be transferred back to the hotel in Arusha.

Rest in the Hotel and Transfer to the Airport

Rest in the hotel and transfer to the airport.

Note: Hotel check-out is at 11:00 AM. In case you need a late check-out because of an evening flight, you have the option to extend your hotel stay till 6:00 PM for an extra fee.
